In possibly my most boring blog post yet, I will update you on the book accomplishments for today. For today, all I did was book.

I finished two of the four items on my to do list from yesterday. Originally, I wanted all of the photos in the book to be in color, but upon investigation on CreateSpace (our likely venue for publishing) I learned just how expensive that luxury would be. So, I had to take my Mom’s adorable, brightly colored dinosaurs and turn their green scales grey. It felt criminal to do so. It’s just not the same. 😦

She proposed I name him Arthur (or Author.) I like Veloci. Or Obby, for Obstacle, which is what he represents in the book. He is the illustration of the obstacles we had to overcome when completing our film.

What do you think? Any other ideas? Better ones?

I also inserted all the punctuation and grammar edits Rachael found when reading through the book, and her portion of some revision work. I began reading through my sections to update or revise any information. Because this was originally written two years ago, some of the information, such as our ‘current projects’ are already out of date.

Our strategy for telling the story involved switching off at certain segments. To differentiate, we each began our section with our initial, so the reader could tell which of us would be speaking. I increased the size of each of those initials, and made them greyscale as well, in order to stand out from the black text.

I asked Rachael to research for me the best fonts for inside a book, and she found a website for me. (I added the link below) I changed the font in our book from Times New Roman to the more pleasing Palatino. After that, I changed each of the chapter headings to the new ‘fun’ font, HappyFox, and made it the same shade of grey. (See what I did there?)

Finally, I increased the indentation of each paragraph and fixed all the formatting that went wonky after inserting the new illustrations.

There you have it! A few words to explain over six hours of work.

On a cuter, more fun note, I really gotta hand it to my furry friends. They hung out with me all day. I think they enjoy my ‘work from home’ days more than I do. Willow sat in a chair next to me and alternately slept/supervised my progress.

They, along with Pandora, truly make a boring day bearable.

Or should I say… catable.

Right at 35 days before my 35th birthday, Rachael and I found out that a book we wrote about our experience making our first film “No Lost Cause,” was being returned to us by the publisher after a year of waiting for it to be printed. Instead of wallowing in our collective misery, I committed to blogging every day while I searched for ways to overcome this perceived rejection and obstacle to our goal. I currently also have about three other projects brewing at the same time, and write about the progress of each of them. This is part of that series.
